Oil rig employment was set up by an ex oil rig worker. Hello everyone, I am Eddie ”The Welder” Johnson and I built this website (with the help of my son) to help people out there who are looking for oil rig employment.
It was and still is difficult to gain employment on oil rigs, in fact the oil industry in general. I have worked in the oil and gas industry for well over 30 years, actually it may be closer to 40 but who’s counting…
I have worked on a number of different oil rigs in the North Sea, oil rigs are dotted all over the world at the moment but they all share a similar theme, it is hard to get on oil rigs and gain actual oil rig employment.
When I started out on oil rigs you got a start if you knew someone or a friend of a friend, to be honest not much has changed except that things are more modern, companies still depend on word of mouth as the main gate way to oil rig employment.
Since I retired I have took an interest in helping people gain contacts, telephone numbers etc in order to get a head start to getting started in the oil rig game. You have to know the right people or have desire to actually make it. When you get a start all the hard work is worthwhile.
A career on the oil rigs is not for the faint hearted, if you are not serious about it then you may as well stop now, it can take a while but if you are patient or follow certain guidelines you can get a start no problem.
